Rick Teed's story begins not in a sales office, but on a job site. At just 19 years old, Rick founded Classic Restorations, a historic preservation company that would go on to work on some of the most iconic properties on the East Coast — including estates tied to the Rockefeller family, Ray Dalio's home, and the Vanderbilt mansion that today houses Greens Farm Academy.
This wasn't just early career experience — it was a masterclass in understanding what makes a property truly valuable. Rick didn't just learn to sell homes. He learned to see what others miss.
California: From Lofts to a New Kind of Real Estate
Rick's path took him west to California, where he acquired a building and transformed it into 60 high-end residential lofts with premium restaurants on the ground floor. His philosophy — "liberating old spaces and turning them into desirable entertainment areas" — became the blueprint for a career defined by value creation.
Sotheby's International Realty: #1 in the Nation
As the leader of Team Teedhaze at Sotheby's International Realty, Rick achieved what few in the industry ever do: a Wall Street Journal #1 national ranking — not once, but in both 2014 and 2015. During this period, Rick and his team closed over $1.5 billion in transactions across the Bay Area.
Compass San Francisco: Founding Partner & Industry Innovator
Rick Teed was Compass San Francisco's first founding partner. His work there gave rise to one of the most influential concepts in modern real estate: the Compass Concierge program — allowing sellers to renovate and stage before listing with zero upfront cost.
Rick's concept was so compelling that it rippled across the entire industry. Companies including Zillow ("Buy Your Home"), Sotheby's ("ELEVATE"), and Travis Kalanick's "Open Door" all drew inspiration from Teed's model. Rick Teed didn't follow the trend. He started it.
The Agency South Florida: A New Chapter
Rick Teed left Compass San Francisco to join The Agency South Florida, partnering with three of the most respected names in real estate: Mauricio Umansky, Santiago Arana, and Billy Rose.
His debut listing: 733 Middle River Drive, Fort Lauderdale — a nearly 12,000 sq ft waterfront estate with 108 feet of deep water frontage, priced at $47.9 million. It stands as Fort Lauderdale's priciest listing, featured in Modern Luxury and The Real Deal.
Rick also facilitated the sale of penthouses at the Waldorf Astoria Miami to Tony Robbins and his business partner AJ Gupta.
